Prof. A. Ch. Mitropoulos studied Chemistry at the University of Thessaloniki (BSc) and Physical Chemistry at the University of Bristol (MSc, PhD). In 1998, he was appointed Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology; and from 2008 to 2017 he was the President of the same Institute. Since 2019, he is Professor at the department of Chemistry and the Dean of School of Science of the International Hellenic University. He has numerous publications, books, academic notes and patents. Professor Mitropoulos is the Director of the Hephaestus Advanced Laboratory, a centre of Excellence of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace region, funded by public and private  organizations. He specializes on porous materials, membranes, nanobubbles and characterization techniques  in-situ with  small angle x-ray scattering.
